While his contemporaries at Certificate 18 have taken a much tougher route through the audio jungle, Norway's Kjetil Sagstad has been one of the few to stick to the label's original widescreen ethos. His resulting releases have proved extremely emotive, with a sublime fusion of techno deviancy and animated synth work allowing the material the space to work in a home environment as well as being eminently playable. This extended player, which preempted his debut album, Still Moving, by close to two years, featured seven genre-bounding tracks from his ice-strewn sound laboratory. As the opening "Mass Mysterior" drops broken turntablism into an electro-wrecked world, the ping-pong beat science of "Breaking Thru" turns drum'n'bass on its head with elaborate melodies rattling the railings in a stripped-down beat excursion.
