Dayton, OH, duo
Swearing at Motorists feed their fan base with this 20-minute EP featuring seven aching lo-fi tracks. Like their previous full-lengths, the songs are lumbering odes to lost love and other everyday occurrences, and although the ferocity of the music may change from song to song, the mood stays blissfully melancholy. The sparse and pining cover of
Steve Earle's "I'm Still in Love With You" is eclipsed in its honest beauty by the band's own "Can't Help Ourselves." Like most EPs by talented artists, this brief glimpse into the band's direction between full-length recordings is intriguing, and generates gleeful anticipation for their next album. ~ Zac Johnson
