Clueso's fifth album,
An und für Sich, is a quieter and more introspective record than its predecessors, showing few traces of the musician's hip-hop background and instead offering melancholic singer/songwriter compositions with an electronica-influenced production. The album, which reached number two in the German charts, oscillates between acoustic sounds and electronic arrangements, with some nods toward bands such as
Air ("Herz") and
Massive Attack ("Ey der Regen"). ~ Christian Genzel
