This album topped the charts for quite a while in Guadeloupe largely on the strength of the single "Wenda Flore." The single became widely known and has appeared on several compilations. The group's appeal lies in its lively brand of zouk. It is zouk with spunk and drive, not the lackluster zouk love that has infected Antillean music. The rest of the album is quality zouk with funky horn riffs and plenty of percussion. Most of the tracks are worthy of a good listen and there is little filler. Guest artists include Hermann Fleret on guitar and
Guy Nsangue on bass. The studio horn section on many of the better zouk productions fills out the arrangements with style and bite. This is
Zook Wave's first album and a good introduction to the Antillean zouk that was popular in the early '90s. A good album to enliven a summer party. Recommended.
