Anniversary by Various Artists - DeepRiffs

COMPILATION

To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Xanadu label in 1985, this LP of previously unreleased performances was put out. The six selections each feature different groups including trios led by guitarist Jimmy Raney and pianists Dolo Coker and Barry Harris, pianist Kenny Barron's solo "Wazuri Blues," and quintets with tenors Al Cohn and Billy Mitchell ("Sweet and Lovely") and altoist Bob Mover with tenor Steve Hall ("Rose Knows"). Although not essential, this LP does give one a good overview of the Xanadu label.
