Apocalyptic Love is het tweede soloalbum van Slash en de eerste met Myles Kennedy op zang op het hele album. Het mag dan misschien hard en zwaar zijn maar het klinkt relaxed. Slash en co maken de muziek die ze het beste kennen, namelijk: Los Angeles sleazerock met dik gelaagde gitaren. Er zijn absoluut geen verassingen hier. Het album opent met een lawine aan wah-wahs en gaat al snel over in een malende boogie, afgeleid van Aerosmith. In tegenstelling to Slash’s Snakepit of zijn titelloze soloalbum uit 2010, probeert Apocalyptic Love nooit te veel te overtuigen, en het is daarom bevredigend op zijn eigen gelimiteerde manier.
