A small step in the direction of worldtronica, this album is essentially from the chill-out genre, with trombonist
Fabio Forte leading a gentle run of smooth jazz infused heavily with electronics. For the most part, the pieces have a slight Asian bent to them, but stay primarily in the mode of smooth jazz. The main Asian contribution here would be the ambient vocals utilized throughout the album in varying tongues from the continent. The trombone makes a surprisingly good solo instrument in the proceedings, the glissando lending itself quite well to a casual laid-back sound.
Forte's abilities on the trombone are perhaps the main treat for the listener, switching between higher speed runs and more drawn-out passages of less intense tone wanderings. Always, though, his efforts go in tandem with the programming of the samples and synths, making for a decent, cohesive whole. This is contemporary Euro-lounge with a heavy leaning toward the exotic, and it does quite well within its self-set confines. Give it a listen.
