As part of Collectables' Great Group Series, the New Jersey doo wop sounds of
the Avons are the focus of this decent, yet brief, budget-priced collection. Alongside the original versions of their most popular songs, "Baby" and "You're So Close to Me," are eight similar gems like "On the Island," "What Love Can Do," "Whisper (Softly)," and "I'm Sending S.O.S." Even though the 1956 hit "Our Love Will Never Die" is excluded, this is still an enjoyable and effective overview for the casual listener.
