Back on the Streets Again is perhaps the definitive
Big Mike Griffin album, a record that showcases his knack for idiosyncratic guitar, soulful vocals and skewed humor. Most of the album consists of originals, with a few great covers -- "Driving Wheel," "I'd Rather Go Blind" -- thrown in for good measure. Throughout it all, he spits out terse, biting solos and invests true passion into his playing. It's a fine debut illustrating that
Griffin is in a different class from the average modern bluesman. ~ Thom Owens
