ALBUM

Valentin's third album (and second for Fania) still shows the bandleader in his early years as a crackling flügelhorn player. There is a great deal of originality in the musical concept of his band. It does illustrate an important part of a career that was overshadowed by his later successes. The title tune, "Zip Zap," and "Barengue Marengue" are the standouts. ~ José A. Estévez, Jr.
