A movie where the plot centers around a frat house cropping up in a previously quiet neighborhood is bound to have a soundtrack full of party jams and Jello shot rock, and Neighbors delivers with a mix of hedonistic, fist-pumping jams. Staying mostly on the side of hard, dancey pop associated with the 2010 setting of the film, there's typical party movie fodder from
Icona Pop,
Trick Daddy, and
Ke$ha, but the playlist also includes classics like Ini Kamozie's "Here Comes the Hotstepper," softer rock moments from
R.E.M. and
David Bowie, and an interesting mash-up of the
Black Keys and
Missy Elliot. ~ Fred Thomas
