Beautiful Hits gathers 19 popular romantic themes sung by the Woodstock era folk-rock vocalist. While the disc contains nice versions of such hit songs as "When I Need You," "Come Softly to Me," "Peace Train," and "Broken Wings," the selection is too haphazard to make the collection a good introduction. For instance, why weren't the singer's hits "Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)," "Brand New Key," or "Beautiful People" included? ~ Al Campbell
