On his self-titled debut, romantic singer/songwriter
Ben Green safely steers his music down the middle of the road that has been well traveled by
Bruce Hornsby and
Marc Cohn, performing breathy odes about love and travel with grand pop orchestration and heartfelt lyrics. Many of the songs have a warm, comforting feel and texture, and it isn't until the accordion intro to his lovesong to his car entitled "My Citroen" (photos of which appear on the front and back cover, as well as on nearly every page of the booklet), where the mood changes to a loose carnival atmosphere. After the intro however, the song slows back down, and the album finds its familiar groove. ~ Zac Johnson
