Chris McDonald has put out several big-band jazz projects over the years, several of them Christmas-themed ones, including 1996's
Big Band Christmas, 2002's Big Band Christmas Swing, 2004's Caribbean Christmas, and 2010's
In the Mood for Christmas. This set draws ten tracks from these various releases, and they fall together well, making a bright, varied jazz soundtrack to the holidays, complete with well-done horn arrangements that give plenty of room for selective soloing. ~ Steve Leggett
