This summation of
Christophe's career may leave out tracks from his 2008 experimental masterpiece Aimer ce que Nous Sommes, but but that's only because it was released in 2002. The 21 selections here contain his finest singles in French and Italian from the '60s, '70s, and '80s, as well as a set of album tracks that are tough to argue with. While veterans will appreciate the many high points here featuring his otherwordly voice and lyrics, highlights include "Aline," "Les Mots Bleu," and "Les Paradis Perdus." This collection makes an excellent introduction to the work of a true pop iconoclast. ~ Thom Jurek
