Wilson's four JSP CDs are excerpted here with one cut added from Texas Blues Guitar Summit. It's a mix of down-home electric blues, 12-bar shuffles and boogies, cool West Coast swing, and funk. His guitar playing is simple like
J.B. Hutto and
John Lee Hooker, and he favors a staccato picking style and an exciting sound. His songs rework familiar themes, and his voice, while unconvincing in falsetto, is good otherwise. The guitar solos are unidentified. Someone sounds like the explosive Albert Collins on a couple of cuts. The bands are very tight, with some horns. Great JSP sound. ~ Sigmund Finman
