Released in 2000,
Blauer Samt remained the only solo record by German rapper
Torch 11 years later, and since this sole full-fledged album by the "godfather of German hip-hop" remained out of print for several years, it was reissued in 2011. The 74-minute record features a number of lesser-known guests such as
Ebony Prince and Boulevard Bou, as well as DJs such as
Stylewarz,
Skizo, and Rick Ski. The track "Als Ich Zur Schule Ging" was recorded in collaboration with
Advanced Chemistry, one of the first German rap groups (whose member
Toni-L also appears on a few other tracks), while Jamaican reggae musician
Eek-A-Mouse guests on "Auf der Flucht."
