Rahul Dev Burman (R.D.) was one of India's most prolific and influential film composers. Born into a family of Bollywood royalty, he apprenticed under his father, respected composer Sachin Dev Burman, eventually going on to score an impressive 331 films throughout his lengthy career which began in the 1960s and ended with his death in 1994. He is often credited with revolutionizing the Bollywood musical landscape, incorporating many outside influences like rock, disco, Latin, and jazz.
