The three long tracks on
Breathing take a slightly more atmospheric turn from
If, Bwana's previous releases -- rather than letting their odd sonic scatters stand sparsely in silence, the group pads them out with a fuller, more constant drone (the title track has a dijeridu murmur underlying its entirety). This makes for a listening experience that's a bit more pleasant and less unsettling than albums like
33 Birds Went, but it also sacrifices some of the immediacy of those highly enigmatic recordings. ~ Nitsuh Abebe
