COMPILATION

Calypso Heat is subtitled "The Definitive Calypso Compilation," which it decidedly is not, being neither definitive nor even calypso most of the time. True calypso lived or died by the wry humor and storytelling in its lyrics, and those crucial two ingredients are totally lacking here. Even worse, the rhythms are simply generic throughout this compilation, and most are synthesizer-driven, which adds to the feeling that, if this is calypso music, then it must be calypso music for elevators.
