Things have been moving fast for TSHA ever since she first rose to the forefront of the UK scene in around 2017-2018. Boosted by the BBC, who named her the ‘Star of 2020’ and entrusted her with an episode of their famous Essential Mix series, the Londoner has also been certified by Fabric, one of the world's most venerated electronic music brands, for whom she curated a compilation in spring 2022. These accomplishments have come quickly, though that’s only logical considering Beyoncé and Drake are currently making house music commonplace within the world of pop. Frankly, TSHA’s timing couldn’t have been better. Her ability to combine vocalists from different backgrounds (such as Malian legend Oumou Sangaré on ‘Water’ and English singer Clementine Douglas on three tracks) with house and rave beats (without distorting them) to create radio-friendly songs makes her a talent to watch, especially during a decade where pop and dance music are set to merge. TSHA has followed in the footsteps of Kalkbrenner, Bicep and Bonobo – all artists who are capable of ‘popifying’ electronic music. With this impressive new album, she demonstrates that she’s already overtaken them. © Smaël Bouaici/Qobuz
