This record is a rather well-hashed affair covering all areas of radio-friendly pop/rock from this Hamilton, Ontario, quartet. The 12 tracks move from some industrial dance beats on "Good Day" to a Californian
Beach Boys homage on "East Coast, West Coast" and the obvious references in "French Cigarettes." Even the opening track, with its "Here Comes the Sun" reference, resembles a Stars on Long Play compilation. A series of synth layerings also bogs the whole effort down at times. Lead by singers Andrew Franey and James Fleming, the number also has an extremely bouncy bassline mastered by
Queen. Another likeable song is the catchy riff-saturating "Happy if It Kills Me." Despite the potential hits, the 12 songs suffer tremendously from an over-produced malaise. Upon listening, nothing strikes the listener as original or slightly unpolished. The variation of styles also symbolizes the strong musicianship, but the genre hopping isn't successful on many tracks, including an indifferent "Rock Her Like a Lion" and the directionless "Comfortable." Far from a classic album, but apparently a safe bet for a party atmosphere. ~ Jason MacNeil
