The
Revolting Cocks' 2006 full-length
Cocked and Loaded gets remixed in house on the extremely loud and vicious
Cocktail Mixxx. While there's little reason anyone but the faithful should care, the hardcore are at least treated to one of the most "industrial" sounding
Revco efforts in quite some time. This is mostly due to the work of remixer Clayton Worbeck who is obviously well versed in old Wax Trax! releases, and
Luc Van Acker who was there during Wax Trax! and
Revco's golden age.
Van Acker's take on "Fire Engine" is pure steel while his "Dead End Streets" co-remix with Phildo Owens pounds with a bassline that's straight out of
Big Sexy Land. Everything else is reworked by Worbeck, and while he can hang with
Thrill Kill Kult-type dance music ("Ten Million Ways to Die [Jammin the Radar Mix]") and hyped-up thrash dance that just holds together ("Devil Cock [Sum Yunguy Mix]") the lack of any outside remixers still seems like a missed opportunity. Strange that mainman
Al Jourgensen didn't contribute a remix, although his sleaze-trash spirit is the guiding light. ~ David Jeffries
