Cold World arrives just two years after the bold
Restoring Force, which saw
Of Mice & Men dabbling in post-grunge and turn-of-the-century nu-metal.
Cold World continues the band's metamorphosis via a genre-romping 13-track set that includes the muscular first single, "Pain," and the heavy and hook-filled "Like a Ghost." There are some nice late-LP moments to be had as well, with the evocative "Down the Road" delivering some clever melodic turns and dual closers "Away" and "Transfigured" offering up some big arena rock choruses. ~ James Christopher Monger
