Rather than a standard greatest-hits package, in
Confesiones de un Artista de Mierda Iván Ferreiro proposes new readings of some of his best songs, live on a film studio stage in front of a small audience. Under the supervision of producer
Suso Saiz and musical director Ricky Falkner,
Ferreiro performs elegant, stripped-down versions of his classics, such as "Años 80" and "Promesas Que No Valen Nada," accompanied by his regular touring band augmented by the horn section of the soul combo No Reply, and with special guests such as
Love of Lesbian's
Santi Balmes and
Deluxe's
Xoel López. The material is equally divided between his tenure with
Los Piratas and his solo work, as well as the previously unreleased "Mi Munchausen." The album comes with a DVD of the performance and a six-track bonus acoustic EP featuring another new song, "Canción de Amor y Muerte." ~ Mariano Prunes
