Because
Eddie Harris had a major hit on his first record with his interpretation of the theme from Exodus, for a few years he often included movie themes in his recordings. This date took the concept to the extreme and some of the songs (such as "People," "From Russia with Love," the theme from Malamondo and "Who Can I Turn To" are not really worth hearing twice. The better tracks on this quintet outing (which also includes pianist
Cedar Walton, guitarist
Kenny Burrell, bassist
Bob Cranshaw and drummer
Billy Brooks) are "Days of Wine and Roses," "On Green Dolphin Street" and four
Harris originals. This hard-to-find LP has some good music but is not essential.
