You can’t get more “Southern” than Australia, so it’s perfectly appropriate for filthy Melbourne grindcore agitators Blood Duster to soak up hints of Confederate rock like so much Jack Daniels. Not quite playing covers of “Freebird” as yet, the band concentrates on strangled, bottom-heavy grind that pauses only to slather on layers of greasy sleaze-rock. The 19 merciless tracks on this reissue zoom by like vintage Napalm Death, showing more pure muscle and less of a stoner groove emphasis than on recent Blood Duster efforts. CUNT is designed to offend, but it’s too much fun to ignore.
