Curly Giraffe's debut surpassed expectations upon its limited release in 2006, selling out of physical copies quickly and remaining on the digital Japanese rock charts for over a year. Takakuwa's approach toward his debut full-length is to capture some element of relaxed beach music while incorporating modern beats and just a touch of trip-hop into the product. It served him well upon its release, and paved the way for further albums and larger record deals.
