Dance with Cugat is
Cugat's first major long-playing collection of his hits with great singers. Miquelito Valdez,
Tito Rodriguez,
Lina Romay,
Dinah Shore, and
Del Campo all make this album work despite its disparate styles and sources. The exotic bolero "Nightingale" -- a major standard of "Caravan" or "Taboo" proportions -- is heard here, making the second side a real powerhouse. "Good, Good, Good" is a frivolous novelty-samba with duck quacks, or something. In any case, this is as good a window as any on
Cugat's long career of hit singles; it also paves the way for new material on 12" LPs.
