Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn's careers overlapped, and in the early '60s they shared both a label, Decca, and a producer, Owen Bradley, but this album isn't a collection of duets: it simply collects seven gospel cuts by Lynn and three by Cline. Unlike her cuts on MCA's similar JUST A CLOSER WALK WITH THEE, Cline's three tunes on DEAR GOD come from the more honky-tonk end of her catalog, so not only is the music a little harder-hitting, so are the lyrics, at least on the title cut.
