I Hate You's strong stance as a straight-edge band made them role models for the cult following which stuck by them over the course of their brief three-year reign, and this discography somehow has presented every song these five men recorded. Considering the band's preference for short, opinionated diatribes, one can understand why, as the majority of the songs collected here are under a minute in length. The band shares a style similar to that of hardcore veterans
Sick of It All, complete with gritty guitar crunch and attitude, which explains why the hardcore scene recognized the band, yet there is little difference between each song and its surrounding tracks. This is an album of solid old-school hardcore which should allow longtime fans to reminisce on the glory days, yet the repetitive nature of this disc weakens the band's legacy. Songs such as "Conviction" and "Cram" appear multiple times (at times even back to back), yet never sound retooled or improved upon, which makes one wonder why they were included repeatedly. The most memorable element of
I Hate You, aside from the appropriate name itself, has to be the lyrical content, as it often borders on the hilarious and is consistently enraged.
