The debut from this seven-man outfit evidences lots of vocal strength, a great sense of rhythm, and big debts to disco, Motown, and the "junkanoo" music of their native Bahamas. At times, such as on the bright and brassy "Mash de Roach," everything works and an original style emerges; on tracks like "Forever by Your Side," though,
the Baha Men seem like something out of the Motown factory -- quite pleasant, but nothing you haven't heard before. And on still other tracks, they really try to straddle the fence between American dance-pop and their native music...The Baha Men are worth keeping an eye on, if you share any of their tastes in music... ~ Jeff Burger
