Inspired by the dub and instrumental remixes that often graced B-sides of 12" singles of '80's dance hits, indie-electro act
Crystal Ark set out to craft a set of remixes from their 2012 self-titled album much more geared toward dancefloors than airplay or channels of mainstream listening. These punchy, aggressive reworkings of the band's already in your face dance tunes strip away much of the vocals and extra percussion, leaving behind rawer skeletons and pushy kickdrum rhythms. Every track explores a slightly different avenue of this remix mindset, with a repetitive house interpretation of the band's standout song "We Came To" being a huge highlight of the set. ~ Fred Thomas
