This set—captured in concert in a small Quebec town—offers a fine sampling of Genticorum’s repertoire, ranging from infectious dance tunes (“La Brunante”) to haunting nostalgic pieces (“Valse Belle Isle”) and stirring a capella showcases (“Deline”). The opening track, “Le Forgeron,” is a hearty example of Quebec’s traditional call-and-response song form.
