Fame is simply a re-recording of the original soundtrack album of the 1980 film, song for song, note for note, with musicians and singers copying the original recordings as closely as possible. It's hard to imagine why anyone would want to purchase this album instead of the original, but then, with a cover photo collage that appears to depict the film's principals if you don't look too closely, maybe the idea is to fool the consumer into thinking this really is the original soundtrack album. ~ William Ruhlmann
