Diamono was mixing Sahelian vocals and rhythms with electronics and jazz-funk out of conviction long before hit-hunting or zouk horns became a vogue. Once again the result is music with passion and integrity and quirkiness, hugely enhanced by Pene's compelling vocals, all low-key angst. This has always been an underrated band.
