In his first proper mixtape
Final Destination, Florida rapper
SpotemGottem continues the raw strength of his earlier tracks, while adding new dimension to his sound with tighter production and passionate, fiery performances. Slithering flows stick mainly to lyrical themes of street squabbles and violence, with the slow roll of "Drill" and standout track "Beat Box 2" being some of the most brutal and charged examples of
SpotemGottem's steely approach to confrontation. "Beat Box 2," a remix of one of
SpotemGottem's breakout tracks, features a new verse from
Pooh Shiesty that amplifies the song's already life-threatening levels of menace and makes it one of
Final Destination's strongest moments. The tape explores a few different stylistic avenues as it goes on, trying out a melodic trap instrumental and spirited sung ad-libs on "No Autotune" and an emotional beat based around a weepy acoustic guitar loop on album closer "Flaws." In addition to
Pooh Shiesty's worth-the-price-of-admission cameo,
Jackboy and
Hotboii also contribute verses to two of the project's 13 tracks. ~ Fred Thomas
