This is the debut CD from
Mindy Jostyn who has spent many years as a backup singer for the likes of
Carly Simon and others. There is a soul/jazz tinge to this singer/songwriter's folk-rock disc. The album is produced with a crisp stadium folk sound which suits
Jostyn's high energy level. The songs are musings on where love and life lead her, as evidenced on the title cut. She is an expressive singer whose tracks are complemented by guest appearances by
Carly Simon,
Donald Fagan and
Garth Hudson. If you like the best aspects of
Melissa Manchester and
Pat Benatar or
Patty Smyth, this a record worth checking out.
