This wonderful archival
Patti Page release is drawn from recording sessions
Page did for Columbia Records between 1963 and 1969, but then never officially released. Recording in those days consisted of laying down several tracks in a few hours, the best or most commercial of which would be mixed and used as singles, while others went for B-sides or album tracks, and the rest, often as good as any of the others, just stayed in the vaults. When one considers that
Page tracked some 200 sides for Columbia during those years in what is considered her second act following her more commercially successful years with Mercury Records in the 1950s, it amounts to a fair amount of material, and a treasure trove at that. This is indeed a welcome addition to the
Page legacy. ~ Steve Leggett
