Fucking Consumer is one of the most solid and well-formed examples of literally new-school electro. Combining the thin, angular beats of '80s breakdance music with melodic, vocal, and rhyhmic elements culled from new wave and techno-pop, tracks such as "Disko Slique," "Theme From Sunwheel Beach Bar," and the inimitable "Space Invaders Are Smoking Grass" count among some of the boldest, most distinctive experimental electronic dance music of the post-rave era. Fairly monochromatic and formed mostly of alternately combined drum patterns and melodic and rhythmic textures, the tracks are also quite composed, making of them a clear, if somewhat bizarre, sibling of pop -- simple and repetitive, yet engaging and vastly entertaining. The CD version adds a number of hard-to-find cuts from early
I-F releases, including the standout "Cry" and the morose-but-silly closer, "End Theme," which features a cameo by vocalist
