The masterful inheritor of a 2000-year tradition, Sachdev plays ragas of deepening night, each containing fluent improvisation within the classic form of the ragas. "Evening Prayer (Raga Kalyan)," traditionally performed at sunset, expresses peace and devotion, while "Introspection (Raga Rageshwari)" is a serious and inward piece played at mid-evening, and "Full Moon (Chandra-kauns)," performed at midnight, greets the risen moon with renewed vigor, reflecting a mood of romance, fulfillment and joy. Accompanied only by the drone of tanpura and swarpeti, Sachdev returns to the roots of his art, with the solitary voice of the Indian bamboo flute, the bansuri.
