Taking a detour from the blasting, industrial bombast of his former project Atari Teenage Riot, Alec Empire's ironically titled album, FUTURIST is a sideways nod to the vintage three-chord punk of politically minded U.K. groups like Crass and Conflict. FUTURIST trades Empire's signature overdriven electronic thrash for a rawer, pure punk sound. Stripping back the tidal wave noise and heavy-handed production for a practically straight live recording, FUTURIST retains all the energy and excitement of Empire's original punk influences.
