Although he has released a few solo EPs since the Academy Is… split in the fall of 2011, Genuine & Counterfeit on Equal Vision is William Beckett's first full-length solo effort, a loose-knit suite of songs about navigating the ever-shifting waters of a relationship. Produced by Marc McClusky and featuring vocal guest spots from Say Anything’s Max Bemis and Mayday Parade’s Derek Sanders, the album is anchored by a catchy first single, "Benny & Joon."
