Almost the same review can be written of every Head East album: nice melodic rock, good arrangements, stellar vocals, but only occasionally a really good song. In the latter category, Gettin' Lucky boasts the incredibly catchy "Don't Let Me Sleep in the Morning," a marvelously affecting song that will stick in your head despite the fact that you will have no idea what it means. You won't. The individual lines of the song are so vague and poetic that they convey no information whatsoever, but cumulatively, they make up a really great song. There are a couple of other grabbers here too, notably "Every Bit of My Heart," which is given such a spirited performance that it's easy to overlook the bitter sentiments of the lyrics. As usual there isn't a genuine dud track on the album. They may have never hit the upper reaches of the charts, but Head East was one talented band, and though much of this album is lightweight, it is still very listenable. ~ Richard Foss
