After a couple releases on his small Shinkoyo label, Matt Mehlan's Skeletons -- now joined by the Girl-Faced Boys -- returns for his/their first release on Ann Arbor, MI's Ghostly International.
Git is scrambled-up pop with loads of electronics and blissfully boyish melodies, as if
Butterfly Child's Joe Cassidy found lifelong happiness, ditched his string section, and decided to use
Todd Rundgren's sprawling '70s albums for some sonic direction. The best songs ("'Git'" and "We Won't Be Proud, No No No No") are also the least elusive, all the while finding enough space for several sounds and unexpected turns. You'll either embrace the album or dismiss it for its many eccentricities. ~ Andy Kellman
