Although 72 and less than four years away from her death,
Maxine Sullivan's singing voice and lightly swinging style were still in prime form in 1983. Joined by a light quartet that includes pianist
Loonis McGlohon and
Phil Thompson on flute and clarinet,
Sullivan interprets
McGlohon's title tune, various standards (including "I Thought About You," "Small Fry" and "It Could Happen to You") plus a couple of
Fats Waller tunes and surprisingly hard-swinging versions of "Ridin' High" and "This Can't Be Love."
