The Persuasions were among the finest a cappella quartets of the '70s and '80s. This 1982 album, which was reissued on CD in 1991, included a nice rendition of the title track, outstanding treatments of "All I Have to Do Is Dream," and "I Won't Be the Fool Anymore," plus a credible cover of
Sam Cooke's "Cupid." The only shaky moments are on the "Swanee River Medley," which came closer to camp than probably intended. But that one oversight notwithstanding, the Persuasions continued their tradition of excellent a cappella albums while on Rounder. ~ Ron Wynn
