Grassroots is a bit of a dirtier record than
Spdfgh's Leave Me Like This. The band assembles its noisy melodies in a more lo-fi fashion here, moving from mellow, dreamy constructions to straighforward (but hazy) indie-rock moves. The album that results wears its
Sonic Youth and riot-grrl influences a little more proudly than Leave Me Like This. The band's more laid-back and more aggressive sides offset one another nicely, and
Grassroots proves itself to be a rather appealing indie record. ~ Nitsuh Abebe
