Whoa! Hold on a second there, buddy boy. By titling a
Sammy Hagar release
Greatest Hits Live, you'd think that renditions of such
Hagar hits as "Three Lock Box," "Your Love Is Driving Me Crazy," and especially "I Can't Drive 55" (as well as perhaps a
Van Halen tune or two) would be included, right? Wrong -- you don't get any of that here, folks. What you do get is a mere ten-track set, comprised of selections that will be familiar only to longtime fans -- in other words, none of
Hagar's recognizable favorites are included. But if it's an in-concert sample of
Hagar from before his solo career took off and he joined
Van Halen, this isn't half bad, as it includes such
Montrose classics as "Bad Motor Scooter" and "Space Station #5," as well as such early solo standouts as "Red" and "Trans Am (Highway Wonderland)." But these songs were never 'hits,' which makes
Greatest Hits Live an extremely misleading title. ~ Greg Prato
