A good but hitless
Chi-Lite album, Half a Love was released by Brunswick only in the United Kingdom. Songs include "I Never Had It So Good (And Felt So Bad)," a dramatic ballad similar to "Lonely Man," but more reserved; the bouncy, infectious "Living in the Footsteps of Another Man"; and
the Stylistics-sounding "I'm Not a Gambler." Lead
Eugene Record does his best on "Half a Love," "Here I Am," and "It's Time for Love," but all songs lack the grip and pull normally associated with a Chi-lite song. Lovers of
Record's feather tenor will enjoy the sweet, cloying "Ain't Too Much of Nothing," "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me," and "Go Away Dream."
